Please take note:

  • If you delete a question it is NOT actually removed from the quiz, as it was deleted after the students had submitted the quiz. The change will apply ONLY to future quiz attempts.
  • The grade for the deleted question is still included in the attempt score for all students who submitted before the change.
  • Therefore you need to change how the attempt gets graded, then regrade it, and then republish the marks for the students.

Step 1: Change the quiz question
Note:
This will only affect future attempts and will have no effect on previous attempts.

  1. Navigate to Quizzes in the navbar.
  2. Click the title of the quiz to which you want to make changes.
  3. Click the Add/Edit Questions
  4. Click on the question you want to edit.
  5. Make the changes necessary to the question.
  6. Click the Save

*Remember to update the original question in the question library.

Step 2: Adjust student responses and scores

  1. Navigate to Quizzes in the navbar.
  2. Click the drop-down arrow after the question you want to adjust and choose Grade.
  3. Select the Questions
    *When you edit a question, a duplicate new question is added to the quiz in place of the original. Students who take the quiz after you change it will be presented with the corrected version.
  4. You have 2 options:
  • Update All Attempts (adjust the grade for all the students who wrote the test). This option is ideal for multiple-choice and true/false
  • Grade Individual Responses and leave View Graded Responses Use this option for any other type of question.
  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you will find a list of all the old versions of the questions as they appeared to the students during the test. This is where you adjust scoring for those who took the quiz before your change
  2. Click the title of the old question
  3. Option 1: If you have selected Update all attempts earlier, you have the following options:
  • Give to all attempts ______ points. Here you basically have the option to award full marks or no marks for that particular question.
  • Give to attempts with answer ? (1, 2, 3, … represents the answer choices a, b, c, …) ____ points. Here you can correct the answer if you have made a mistake in the correct answer for a multiple-choice or true/false question.

Option 2: If you have selected Grade individual responses, you will see individual students’ responses for this question and you can grade each attempt individually. Click the Save and Continue button to save the changes for each student until you reach the last one.

  1. Click the Go Back to Questions button. 

Step 3: Updating new scores in the grade book

  1. Navigate to Quizzes in the navbar.
  2. Click the drop-down arrow after the question you want to adjust and choose Grade.
  3. Check the first box next to First Name/Last Name column to select all the students. (Select the maximum number of students to display at once at the bottom-right of the page)
  4. Click on Publish Feedback
  5. Click the Yes button on the confirmation pop-up window.
    This will publish the new scores to the grade book.
  6. Navigate to Grades in the navbar and verify that the grades have been updated.
